1990 Hot Wheels Power Plower

It’s hard to think about Christmas when it’s a hot and humid day in August. But, car hunting is one of my favorite things to do during the Holiday break. I usually try to make a round to all of the local antique stores to see what can be found. Last December, I scored some good stuff.

The casting that would become the Hot Wheels Power Plower originated in 1979 as the Chevy Silverado-based Bywayman. The Power Plower – which has also been named Super Scraper, Pavement Pounder and Path Beater – was introduced in 1980 and features a plastic blade on the front. I found this example with an intact plastic blade – the Collector #127 from 1990 – at the Paramount Marketplace. (It replaces a much rougher version that was already in my collection.)

Other examples of this casting in my collection include both the 1989 blackwall and 1990 construction tire Midnight Removal Power Plower as well as a mint example of the 1993 Collector #198 Path Beater.
