The Hot Wheels Ford Aerostar casting was first used in 1986 in the Flip Outs series (cars with a spring-loaded lever in the base that, upon impact, caused the car to roll over). The car had opaque windows to hide the lever mechanism inside the vehicle. In 1991, the casting was released with a standard base, but the opaque windows (either chrome or black) remained in the 7 variations that followed.
This version of the Ford Aerostar from 1992 – with its colorful Speedie Pizza Delivery graphics – is another one of my finds from last month’s Wichita Flea Market at the Kansas Star Casino.
