1997 Hot Wheels Second Wind

I’ve always thought the Hot Wheels Second Wind looked suspiciously like the Mach 5 race car from the Speed Racer animated series. Well, according to the Hot Wheels wiki, in 1976 Mattel was working with the creators of Speed Racer on a licensed version of the Mach 5. However, the deal fell through, so the model was altered slightly and given the name Second Wind.

Second Wind was first released in the 1977 Flying Colors series and was produced in about 10 different variations, most recently included in the 2011 Hot Ones series. This India-cast white model with red and blue tampo and blackwalls is another of the baggie cars from my Black Friday visit to Paramount Marketplace.
